The Client's requests: create a website with a fresh, new design for the following brands
Solution: a long-term marketing relationship consisting of…
Knighthouse Media is a publishing company headquartered in Chicago. The company was acquired by a new owner in 2019, who contacted us to help relaunch the B2B Best Practices brands. Knighthouse Media wanted to refresh its brand websites to attract readers and advertisers.
Our team was tasked with creating a website for each Best Practices brand that was user-friendly, responsive, and encompassed the select industry. The goal of each website was to deliver relevant and useful stories to readers and to provide a platform for advertisers to reach targeted audiences.
Because the brand websites are content-rich, we designed each one with the reader in mind. Users can easily drill down into categories starting from the homepage or filter stories by category using the search bar. Knighthouse Media editors wanted to showcase the most recent stories on the homepage without having to manually update them. We found a solution for this by adding a slider at the top of each homepage that automatically pulls in the latest stories. We created a simple, easy-to-use navigation nesting publication categories under the Best Practices Tab. We also made sure to include plenty of white space so digital ads wouldn’t interfere with the user experience.
Knighthouse Media tasked us with completing a mass migration of all its digital assets from the Joomla CMS to Wordpress. We completed this migration through a combination of automated and manual cleanup tasks while coordinating with the client to ensure all important data was retained. This phase included custom redirect scripts to ensure there was no loss of existing search engine indexing.
Digital ads are a significant revenue generator for Knighthouse Media. Our team migrated existing ads from the Joomla CMS to Google Ad Manager. This transition to Google Ad Manager allows the company to have greater control of targeting, customization, and reporting, as well as the ability to use programmatic ad networks to fill unused inventory.
Our digital team established naming conventions for orders and line items to keep ad inventory organized, created custom targeting options, and successfully migrated and delivered over 250 digital ads for the Best Practices brands.
We now act as an extension of the Knighthouse sales team assisting with digital ad ops. This includes regularly adding new ads and providing performance reports.
